Indeed one of the best climb for me. One to tick off my list is to climb the mountains of Cordillera. Time to conquer North this time. This one is major climb, traversing Nueva Vizcaya to Benguet, the trail is described as lengthy and open, total of 33 KM. Layo diba?
Mt.Ugo is known for it’s long dreadful trek. We set off at almost 7 AM and started to trek at 8 am. I was already out of breath after 2 hours of non stop ascent. We still have 7 more hours to reach the campsite. Good thing it has the most scenic view to relieve my sore soles and tired shoulders.
I forgot the mark on where we took our lunch but our guide said it’s another 3 hours to reach the campsite. An hour before we reached the campsite, it started to rain. Very Silent Hill yung view. Kind of scary and it made the trail almost invisible.
It was freezing up there. Every rain drop was ice cold. After settling down, We had dinner and some booze to cap the night off.
Unluckily, no clearing for us to witness that scenic sunrise. The camp site was covered with fog and it sarted to rain again. The summit is just 15 minutes form the camp site. Very malas talaga- no clearing at all. Anyhoo, we just took some group pictures at the summit – a proof that we did it at 2150 MASL *wink*
We have to endure another 15 km to traverse the Benguet side. There was moment when I felt lost kase parang paulit ulit yung trail. Half of 15 KM, I found myself wandering alone, I got really scared pero I just followed the trail and it was a great chance for me to pee kase talagang ohmygad ihing-ihi na ako. Hello, okay wala naman tao eh, so Go! (Kris Aquino high pitch tone)
We took our lunch at one of the Village, which is approximately 7 KM from the summit. Mr.Sun started to show up that afternoon, medyo natuyo na kame from rain showers and pawis – a very bad combination. Another 8 kilometers descent to jump off. We reached Itogon, Benguet Municipal Hall by 4PM. Got our certificates and was able to enjoy unlimited Benguet coffeefor free 🙂
Last stop was Good Taste in Baguio where we had our sumptuous dinner.
Ooooh, how I miss Mt.Ugo 😦 I wish to do a comeback climb and witness clearing at the summit. By the way, this was my lastclimb for 2016. I am hoping to experience more climb this year *cross finger* SANA PO MAKULAYAN YUNG MGA NA-IDRAWING. 😀
